The Online Educator
For this activity I share an ethics assignment I typically use in my Intro to Nursing course. In this assignment students watch a movie called Miss Evers' Boys about the Tuskegee Syphilis study.
I ask students to put themselves in the place of Miss Evers and consider what it must have been like for her during this time. For those unfamiliar with this story, Miss Evers was a nurse involved in a study that essentially lied to and tricked African American men with syphilis into thinking they were receiving treatment for Syphilis when instead they were being studied to determine the effects of Syphilis in African American men for over a period of 40 years.
