Assignment Spotlight: One Million Dollar Pyramid
Jan 04, 2022I'm a big fan of gamification in online courses. I think this is a great strategy to engage online learners. For this month's assignment spotlight, I want to highlight a game that I think can be adapted nicely in online courses. It's called One Million Dollar Pyramid and comes from my good friend Martha Kohlbeck Johnson over at BreakoutRN.
The One Million Dollar Pyramid assignment is a twist on the classic 80’s TV show. In this assignment, students must attempt to guess a series of words, phrases or concepts based on descriptions given to them by their classmates. BreakoutRN has awesome ideas for how to use this assignment in a face-to-face and synchronous online class HERE.
For a fully asynchronous twist on this game, you can create an interactive google document where students have to type in the correct word, phrase or concept into the correct pyramid square in order to gain access to the next square.
Don't worry, when I create a template for this game, you'll be the first to know!
I'd love to hear your ideas on this assignment. Share them in The Online Educator Facebook Group!
