Ed Tech Tuesday: E-Learning Heroes

Jan 27, 2021

One of the things that I love most about teaching online is being creative, teaching online really gives you the opportunity to be very creative and explore different possibilities that may not be possible in a face to face classroom. I get really excited when I have the opportunity to explore different resources that help me to be creative. And in this blog post today, I'll be sharing one resource that really helps to get my creative juices flowing.

The resource that I'd like to share today is E-Learning Heroes. I learned about this site. A few years ago and one of the things I loved about them, is the fact that they have various templates that you can download to use in PowerPoint. They also have a lot of templates to use in a software called Storyline, which I don't have access to, but I love the ideas that they have, because you can still come up with something similar in PowerPoint or Google Slides.

One of my favorite things to do is to just go to the site and browse different templates that they have. It's really amazing how many ideas, you can come up with just by browsing their site.  One of the other things I love about E-Learning Heroes, is they're not just a resource for downloads. You can also learn more about teaching online and learn how to be more creative in your teaching.

On their website, there is a section for learning. That includes lots of ebooks and examples of teaching online resources to help you build better online courses. They also have a section just for discussion where you can post your ideas and join other people's discussions about building courses and teaching online. It's really amazing just to see the different ways that people have been creative with their teaching. It excites me to no end! However, sometimes I go down the rabbit hole of looking at the resources. And I could honestly, sit there for hours. Just looking at resources and downloading templates. The problem with this is, sometimes I download a bunch of templates and never get to use them. So a new process that I've put in place, is to limit the amount of time that I look at resources- so maybe I'll look at them for 30 minutes or an hour and then I make myself spend an equal amount of time just reviewing the ones that I've downloaded and thinking about how I might be able to use them in my online course.

I would recommend walking into a resource like this, with a similar plan, because you can really pass several hours, just looking at resources, and not actually getting anything done!

So here's that link again for E-Learning Heroes. I hope that you have a happy time hunting for great resources for your online course!
