Ed Tech Tuesday: Kahoot!
Jul 28, 2020Another awesome member of The Online Educator Facebook Group mentioned a great Ed Tech Tool that I thought would be great to focus on today. Instead of giving an online quiz, she was exploring using the tool Kahoot! to make it a more interactive competition between students.
Kahoot! is an internet-based platform that makes it easy to create, share and play learning games or trivia quizzes in minutes. See an example of how it works HERE. Now I have only seen Kahoot! used in synchronous live sessions so I wasn't aware that there was an option available for online education. But you will be happy to know that there IS a way to use Kahoot for distant-learning. Simply use the FREE Self-paced challenge mode to create self-paced games that students can play by themselves at home, on a mobile device or computer. With the premium version of Kahoot you can also create interactive lessons by easily importing slides created in PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides, or from a PDF file straight into your kahoots!
Best of all, Kahoot! is offering all education institutions free access to Kahoot! Premium to empower distance and online learning and engage students anywhere, anytime. With an offer like that, what reason could you have for not giving it a try!
There are TONS of different ways to use Kahoot! in your online classroom. Educators have used Kahoot! to “shake up” usual assignments, instruct remotely, support exam prep, engage in story-telling, helps students get to know each other better and create a sense of community. Even though most of these examples com from the area of primary and secondary education, but 87% of the global top 500 universities are also Kahoot!’ing! Various faculty members have shared how Kahoot! has helped their students perform better.
Be sure to share your ideas and how you plan to use Kahoot! in your online course in The Online Educator Facebook Group by clicking the link HERE. Also, as a treat don’t forget to GRAB YOUR FREE GUIDE to the 3 Secrets to Teaching Online Successfully.
