Ed Tech Tuesday: Nearpod
May 17, 2022Today I'm excited to chat about a fun and versatile tool called Nearpod. Although this tool is largely used in the K-12 arena, there is some great potential for this tool in higher education. I'll tell you all about the tool and some of the most exciting features it has to offer in today's blog post.
Nearpod is a web-based application that allows educators to create interactive, multimedia presentations. Presentations can include a variety of content types, such as lesson plans, videos, audio recordings, images, and more. Perhaps one of the most unique features of Nearpod is its ability to allow educators to control the pace of their presentation in real-time. This means that educators can ensure that all students are keeping up with the material and can provide individualized instruction when necessary. In addition, Nearpod also allows educators to track student progress and receive feedback after each presentation.
An additional great feature is the Nearpod community that allows you to connect to educators all over the world. But the feature that I love the most are all the sample activities that are already created! You know I love nothing more than a good template. Check out this great activity on the Supreme Court Confirmations and Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Overall, Nearpod is a great tool for both K-12 and higher education settings. It's interactive features make it ideal for engaged learning, while its ability to track student progress makes it a valuable assessment tool. If you're looking for a way to spice up your lessons, I highly recommend giving Nearpod a try.
I'd love to hear your ideas on how you might be able to use this tool in your own online course. Share them in The Online Educator Facebook Group!
