Ed Tech Tuesday: TED-Ed
Oct 27, 2020Most people are familiar with TED Talks, but if for some reason you have never heard of them, TED Talks are influential videos from expert speakers on education, business, science, or on technology under the popular slogan "ideas worth spreading". Some of the most popular TED Talks have come from inspiring speakers such as Novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Education activist Malala Yousafzai, and topics such as Do Schools Kill Creativity?, How Great Leaders Inspire Action, and How to speak so that people want to listen.
But have you ever heard of TED Ed? TED Ed follows the same principle of spreading great ideas, except with a focus on education and educators. TED Ed aims to spark and celebrate the ideas and knowledge-sharing of teachers and students around the world.
How you can use TED Ed in your online courses:
- Curated Lessons
- TED Ed has a collection of hundreds of video-based lessons organized by the subject, animations and TED Talks designed to spark the curiosity of learners.
- Create your own customized lessons
- TED Ed gives you the ability to add interactive questions and discussion topics to any TED-Ed Animation, TED talk or video on YouTube. You can then share the lessons with your students online and even track the results.
- Inspire your students to share their big ideas
- TED Ed has an innovative program called Student Talks, that gives students the opportunity to learn how to discover, explore and present their own ideas as TED-style talks.
