Ice-Breaker Tuesday: ‘Big Lottery Win’ Warm-Up Activity
Nov 08, 2022The ‘Big Lottery Win’ Warm-Up Ice-Breaker activity is a fun, simple and easy to use ice-breaker that can help any online course begin with a bang. Learn more about it in today's blog post.
The aim of the activity is to get everyone thinking about what they would do if they won the lottery. It can be used as a way of helping people to share their aspirations and dreams, as well as getting them to think creatively.
This Ice-breaker is featured on the Symonds Research site and the instructions they list are as follows:
- Explain to the students to imagine that they have just won the lottery ($25 million or so).
- Give students 5 minutes to list all the things they would do with the money. There is no limit to the number of things they can put down, as long as they can write them within 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes are up, ask everyone to talk about their list and discuss.
For an online course, you can assign this as a Discussion Board assignment and have students respond to one or two students with a list very different (or similar) to their own.
