Ice-Breaker Tuesday: The Person I Am
Mar 08, 2022Today's ice-breaker is a fun activity that is a bit more interesting than the typical "Introduce yourself and share one fun fact about yourself. Learn more about it in today's blog post.
I learned this activity from Online Teacher University website and thought this would be an excellent way for students to introduce themselves that is different from the typical introduction forum.
Ice-breaker Instructions:
Share three (3) nouns and two (2) verbs that best represent who you are as a person. Explain why each noun and verb you selected represents who you are. Your explanations do not need to be lengthy. Bonus Tip: Turn your key words into a Word Cloud and share the screenshot.
This activity can be used in a variety of different ways including:
Synchronous Participation/Class Discussion: Have students complete this activity in class and then share one at a time, or discuss as a whole group what they have learned about each other. This allows for the opportunity to learn more about their peers by having students engage with each other.
Asynchronous Discussion on Discussion Board or VoiceThread: Have students complete this activity on their own time and then share them in the discussion board or a tool like VoiceThread. Allow students to respond to at least one colleague and share something they found interesting about their introduction.
I'd love to hear your ideas on this ice-breaker. Share them in The Online Educator Facebook Group!
